Woolly Buggers

The woolly bugger has to be the most versatile fly pattern in the world. They imitate a variety of things like small fish and swimming nymphs. You can literally fish them in any situation. For me, it is my go to pattern when fishing still water and lake edges. You can cover a lot of water quickly and find out where the fish are. You can cast them on a floating or sinking line. With a floating line I like one with a bead head and I usually fish fast in shallow water. A sinking line in deep water or rivers is ideal. You can even fish them using a spinning rod which I just proved here. My pick for casting to shallow edges is the BH krystal olive in a size 8.

If you want a mix, check out our Woolly Bugger Pack; trout flies are less expensive in packs.
