Do you have a peafowl problem? We have been providing a free culling service for over 23 years.
Peafowl are agricultural pests in many parts of New Zealand. They have very few natural predators and are able to multiply 10 fold in a year if not controlled. Adult peafowl consume 200 g of clover in a day. Five birds eat as much as a sheep.
While most district councils will poison them for you at your expense, we offer a poison free service to help manage your problem.
We have a small, dedicated team of hunters who know exactly what they are doing.
We have full liability and indemnity insurance in the event of an accident; we have never had a claim against us.
Peafowl are our main focus but we will eliminate any other pests as requested while we are there. We hunt at night and target peafowl in their roosts. We use thermal imaging technology to find the animals and use suppressed .22 rifles with subsonic ammunition.
When culling small local blocks we generally take all the birds away to be processed elsewhere and will hunt for one night at a time.
If your farm is located more than a couple of hours drive away from Whakatane, we tend to hunt for a few days or more at a time, hunting at night and processing the birds in the field the following day. We will require basic accommodation such as a shearer's quarters or similar.
We cull from June until the end of November.
Currently we do not charge for this service, we process the birds for the sale of feathers and consumption of the meat.
