Culling Blog

So we started to blog about some culls. It will give you an idea of what we are doing and approximate numbers being culled. We harvest all of the meat to feed our families and friends. If this is for you, please fill in the Webform submission and we will be in touch in due course.

We are not too worried as we are seasoned veterans in the culling world. We know exactly what we are doing and never take any silly chances. We treat your property and stock with the utmost respect and clean your accommodation before we leave. It is a lifestyle we all enjoy. For Dave@feathergirl.co.nz, it is a living selling feathers.

Dan and I met the worst wind we had even felt on a block. We had been there several years in a row but got rained out last year.  We were about to give up for the night, but we decided to try a little lower. We wound up shooting 53 turkeys and a couple of possums. Heaps more flew away with the wind and full moon. Luckily Mike from the next farm came with his Can Am and hauled most of the birds back to the truck. Lucky us as the first two hauls were difficult. Two full days of work ahead...

76 peafowl, seven possums, three deer, two cats and a few hares. Brian and Dan came to target deer and the other two of us focused on peafowl.

Blair, Tony and Harrison started on this new block just down the road from about half a dozen others we have been culling peafowl and turkeys for several years. Funny, they found us from the culling page and not from word of mouth from just down the road. It was merely a start as the back of the farm was inaccessible due to recent flooding. They got 34 peafowl, 22 possums and one hare.

Blair, Tony and Harrison Harvested 20 peafowl, three possums and two bunnies on this small olive block where crop damage was done.

Shot lots in years past including many turkeys. Peafowl not hunted last year and numbers were good. 45 peafowl, 11 possums, two magpies and one hare...
