We have culled a lot of birds from this block in the past but we had not been back in three years. Ian agreed it was time for another cull...

We got there Wednesday evening (4 September) to pouring rain that was supposed to clear. We played cards and hung out by the fire. About midnight, it cleared. I went to bed but the boys went out for a quick hunt. I woke up early to see a bunch of peafowl hanging. I had work to do. Then the boys continually brought back turkeys for me to process throughout the day. That night I joined them for a hunt but was pretty tired after 15 or so peafowl. I did just process for 11 hours straight. I woke up early the next morning to see a whole lot more birds hanging. I worked like a madman all morning and by about two PM on the 6th, we were cleaning up and packing up the rest of the meat. I brought seven big peacocks home, tails and wings from 23 more, all of the turkey tails and many bags of loose feathers.  All of the goats went with Caleb and the rest of the meat was split up with Shane getting the lion's share to make sausages. Today is the 10th and I just finished processing the peacock wings just so you know how much work it was. I wound up putting the turkey tails in the freezer to deal with another day as tonight is a new hunt...

Still, there is much more work to do on this block...
