We were actually across the road from Triple Hill but close enough. There is a mob of 30 or so turkeys that the owner usually harvests from for food but numbers were getting a bit much to manage. The moon was full and it was like daylight. Angelo shined the torch on the mob and they already started moving off their fence posts, clearly spooked. We snuck up as best we could but after the first three knocked down, most left. There were some younger ones higher in the trees so I set Kayden up with the shooting stick and shot three. They all flew. Clearly my description of where to place the shot was not good enough. Always aim for the wing socket and they will not go anywhere. It was Wendy's turn and she did not miss. Kayden shot the last bird perfectly. Turkeys are different targets than peafowl. Their wing is set further back and unless you find the soft spot, you are likely just shooting the meat on the breast. Get the shot above the breast meat, below the wing socket and you have a heart/lung shot. It is a learning curve.
