If you are wondering why there are so few hunts logged this season, let me tell you a story. I have processed over 1000 pheasants so far this season.

Got the call from Charles that there were 70-80 peafowl needing culling. We were there back in the pre covid days in 2018. We got 65 birds then. I was solo this time. Caleb had organised the day but got called into work at the last moment. So off I went. It was a lot of fun being by myself on quite an easy block to hunt. It really was just a tree line along a creek in flat country. I took my time, shot birds carefully using the Pard thermal on the Ruger 10/22. The most important thing here is the extendable bipod shooting stick. It makes so much difference when trying to carefully aim between branches and being steady when pointing updwards. There were three main mobs and it was a bit of work getting them all back to the truck by myself. Brought home nine big, mature males. That is my best ever solo hunt to date.
