Jill made contact through the Pest Management page on the Feathergirl website. Dan and I answered the call. We shot 101 birds on the first night. We shot a total of 168 over three nights. Unfortunately, many were lost to the river. We probably lost about 30 mature males and that hurt. They are worth good money to me. Knowing they were likely to be lost, we still shot them. We were there to cull after all.
One highlight of the trip for me was getting my first ferret.
As always, I harvested the feathers. Dan followed behind and did the butchery.
The real highlight of the trip was taking Katy, Alex and their kids to shoot a few birds using the thermal scope on the .22. None of them were strangers to firearms but using a thermal scope was a new experience for them. Mom showed them how to do it then the kids had a go. They got a few peahens too.
