Wee wet fishing is a lot of fun and often more productive than nymphing. We have all picked up trout while nymphing with the line dragging downstream. It happens a lot. This is what wee wet fishing really is.
Generally you are fishing down and across with one or two flies. These flies imitate emerging flies or even terrestrials struggling in the water. You can fish them upstream like nymphs or somewhere in between just to get a little sink.
Fishing them upstream and stripping back works well too.
You can fish them on a floating or sinking fly line.
If you see slashes on the surface or spot a trout feeding mid water or near the surface and rising up to feed, chances are they are taking emergers.
I really like fishing them in pocket water and smaller streams where you can't really get a cast. If fish are feeding near the surface, try a wee wet in any location or type of water.
