Harling is basically shallow trolling with a fly or flies using a lead line. Rod and reel combos are designed for this purpose but you can use your fly rod with sinking line to do the same thing. Larger flies are generally used harling. Start early and hope for a little chop on the water for best results.
Trolling deeper water is pretty much the same thing except you are using a lot more lead line. Downriggers are really the way to go in deep water. Jigging is the way to target a specific area.
